October 8, 2023
In a stunning display of endurance, Kenyan runner Kelvin Kiptum has shattered the world record at the Chicago Marathon. Kiptum, a newcomer to the prestigious race, crossed the finish line with an unofficial time of 2 hours, 35 minutes, and 35 seconds, breaking the previous record set by Eliud Kipchoge in 2018 by more than a minute.
Kiptum's victory is a testament to his incredible physical and mental strength. The 30-year-old runner, who is making his debut in Chicago, outpaced a field of elite competitors, including Kipchoge, who finished in second place with a time of 2:05:57.
Kipchoge, who has been a dominant force in the marathon world for many years, praised Kiptum's performance. "He is a very talented runner," said Kipchoge. "I knew it would be difficult to beat him today, but I am happy for him. He ran a great race."
